Well finally I'm back home, after 7 loooonnnng sleep deprived weeks. I miss camp so much but i'm so glad to be back and sleep in my own bed.
There was a lot of ups and downs this summer, and I will be sure to post pictures soon. But heres a quick summery.
Week 1 Staff training week
Week 2 Holiday camp 1 (ages 7-12) - everything went pretty well, there was just a lot of working out glitches in the program and getting used to everything..only one thing, we lost our lifegaurd the second day. it turned out he lost his certification almost a year earlier, but we got him and another staff member certified so we could have more kids in the pool and a time.
Week 3 Holiday camp 2 (same age) - Week of the sickness mulitple people with bronchitis, tonsilitis, strep throaght and I cought larengitis, and was put in "isolation" as I like to call it for 3 and a half days.. that ment no working. I had to give up my campers and it reallllyyy sucked. But I was glad to get the rest and be prepared for the rest of the summer, I also got caught up on a lot of my entertainment news Haha.
Week 4Holiday camp 3 (same age) - Probably one of the hardest weeks of my life. Everything was going good, except my direct deposit wasnt working, so I called to talk to my mom about that and found out that my grandmother had passed away, I knew the day was coming soon but it was so hard when it hit. But it was for the best and i was in the best place I could have been I had the most support I could ever want and It made it easier to get through.
Week 5 Teen Camp (13-16) - Best week of the summer, these campers taught me so much about life and helped me grow so much spiritualy and as a person. Some of these kids had gone through more than I could ever imgaine and it was amazing to get to spend a week with them and see the changes in them. Even though everyone was worried about what had happened last year with some sneaking out, nothing like that happend and everyone just really enjoyed themselves
Week 6- Moms and Kids ( I was with 5-6) - Pretty much a slack week, we were only with the kids for a few hours each day so it was just a good time to catch up on rest and relax, Oh and pracitce your mini golf game. I got a hole in one on the LAST hole, and for anyone who has mini golfed at pine lake, that is an accomplishment I think. Haha..
Week 7- Music Camp- For this I was a camper, It was a different experience. I decided that this was the last year I was going to go to camp even thought I technically have one more year left, And it was a perfect way to end it. There was sooooo much laughter and memories, with our amazing singing and danceing. It was a perfect way to end the summmer.
Now each summer our camp has a baseball game against the jewish camp across the lake.. and well we havent won in quite a few year... I would love to say that my amazing never-playing-before-baseball skills helped us win but sadly no.. the score was 30-1 for them. But it was so much fun.
